Here's something you will have a hard time finding. This is a daisho mounting using some extremly fine solid iron Patrick Hastings fittings mounted up by John Tirado. All the fittings and mounts match. The set is available for sale on consignment.

First the Katana.

The katana of the set is a 1086 shinogi zukuri katana with an unusually narrow shinogi ji by Howard Clark. This blade should make an excellent cutter as the edge angle will be quite sharp given the geometry. The blade was polished by Brandon Thell and the sword was mounted by John Tirado using Patrick Hastings fittings. The polish is a few years old.

The steel shows the distinctive work of Howard Clark in his 1086 steel. The polish on this was done by Brandon Thell.

The blade has a conventional 11" tsuka mounted up by John Tirado with Patrick Hastings fittings.

The samekawa on both the dai and sho have been antiqued. The iron fittings all match up in a lovely fashion with sukashi blossoms on the tsuba, and engraved blossoms on the fuchi and kashira. The menuki are fine shakudo with gold highlights.

The saya on both swords are gloss black and custom made

The wakizashi.

This wakizashi is rather interesting in that it was made by Randal Graham, a smith some have heard of but who had put out very little work ultimately as a Japanese sword smith. The wakizashi blade is made from Howard Clark's 1086 steel, but was forged and heat treated by Graham. The blade's geometry is a shobu zukuri style and was polished by John DeMesa.

Again, all the fittings were custom made by Patrick Hastings. Both swords were mounted to match as a daisho by John Tirado.
